Launched in October 2015, the Nonprofit Repositioning Fund (the "Fund") is a new effort to to encourage and support mergers and other types of formal, long-term collaborations between nonprofit organizations, as well as dissolution planning in special instances for individual nonprofit organizations.
Our primary objectives are to:
- Provide funding support for thoughtful exploration and implementation of formal collaborative transactions among nonprofits;
- Routinize the consideration and practice of repositioning activities as a legitimate strategic option for nonprofit leaders, boards and funders; and
- Further develop the Philadelphia region’s capacity to provide wise and experienced technical assistance to nonprofits exploring these collaborative opportunities.
Lead funding for the initiative has been provided by The Barra Foundation, North Penn Community Health Foundation, Samuel S. Fels Fund, Scattergood Foundation, The Philadelphia Foundation, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and William Penn Foundation. Funding has also been provided by the Arizona-based Lodestar Foundation.
The Nonprofit Repositioning Fund is housed at
Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia and Nadya K. Shmavonian serves as the Director.
