Chester County Fund for Women and Girls’ Grants Allocation Committee Awards $193K in Grants

WEST CHESTER, PA (June 26, 2017) – The Chester County Fund for Women and Girls (CCFWG)’ Grants Allocation Committee (GAC) has awarded $193,000 in grants to 20 non-profit agencies serving the needs of women and girls throughout Chester County.

With a population of over 500,000, the needs of women, girls and families are just as diverse as our people and communities. To date, CCFWG has directed nearly $3 million to 71 non-profit agencies to strategically address persisting needs, including homelessness, domestic violence and women’s health. Through its inclusive and community-driven process, GAC ensures that CCFWG continues to lead and unite the community through philanthropy and advocacy to ensure that women and girls have resources and opportunities to thrive.

Our grant recipients this year include:

  • Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, Inc.: $13,500 for education and advocacy efforts to prevent and reduce domestic violence
  • Family Promise of Southern Chester County: $13,500 for children and families experiencing homelessness
  • Friends Association for the Care and Protection of Children: $10,000 for housing for 175 homeless women and girls
  • Home of the Sparrow: $13,500 for housing and supportive services for homeless and low-income women
  • Parkesburg Point: $8,000 for girls leadership programming
  • Chester County Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC): $7,500 for its Certified Nurse Assistant program
  • Coatesville Youth Initiative: $14,000 for service-oriented programming for youth
  • Interfaith Housing Assistance Corporation of Chester County: $10,000 for case management and financial assistance for single mothers
  • Mom’s House: $9,500 for daycare services for low-income mothers
  • Volunteer English Program: $5,000 for tutoring and economic opportunities supporting low-income women
  • Wings for Success: $7,500 for employment support and guidance for low-income women
  • YoungMoms: $5,000 for a case management and mentoring program for young mothers
  • Bournelyf Special Camp: $5,000 for programming for local young women with special needs
  • Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County: $7,500 for services provided to female victims of rape and sexual assault
  • Community Volunteers in Medicine: $14,000 for health tests provided to women
  • Gateway Horseworks: $15,000 for an equine therapy program for women after release from incarceration
  • La Comunidad Hispana: $10,000 for a women’s health program for immigrants and low-income women
  • Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County: $7,500 for social support and education services for low-income pregnant women, new mothers and their children
  • Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania: $8,000 for well woman exams for 55 Coatesville women on Medicaid
  • Unite for Her: $9,000 for providing breast cancer patients with education and complimentary therapies
