Meredith Anne Huffman

It is with heavy hearts that share the news that our dear friend and colleague, Meredith Huffman, passed away on July 26, 2017.

For the past nine years, Meredith served as Executive Director of Genuardi Family Foundation and was an integral member of our philanthropic family. Since joining Philanthropy Network's Board of Directors in 2011, she has been at the very center of our work to advance philanthropy that creates positive and lasting change in the communities we collectively serve.

It’s hard to overstate Meredith’s influence on Philanthropy Network over the years. Among her many roles were: Board Member (2011-2017), Vice President of the Board (2015-17), co-chair of our Branding Task Force (2013), Member Services Committee member, ad hoc Strategic Planning Committee (2016), Governance Committee (2016-17) and Executive Search Committee member (2014 and 2016-17). In addition, she and the Genuardi Family Foundation were early supporters of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work and were founding partners of the groundbreaking Your Way Home Montgomery County collaborative.

We were witness countless times to Meredith’s passion, intelligence, dedication, and humility. Her spirit will live on in the work of Philanthropy Network, in the work of the Genuardi Family Foundation, in the work of her many beloved colleagues, and in the many kindnesses she imparted.

A service to celebrate Meredith’s life is planned for Friday, August 18, 2017, at 1:00 pm at The Phelps School, 583 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA.  You are invited to join Meredith’s family to shine a light on her generous and inspiring life.  Per Meredith’s wishes, everyone is asked to wear something pink.

In addition, the Meredith Anne Huffman Fund has been established at the Montgomery County Foundation, Inc., and as she directed, it will support organizations and leaders that are working to connect ideas, people, and efforts toward the greater good with a focus on advancing social justice and women’s resources. If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to “The Montgomery County Foundation, Inc.” (indicate "Meredith Fund"), 4 Sentry Parkway East, Suite 302, Blue Bell, PA 19422. (Please be sure to note the fund  For more information regarding the Fund, please contact Virginia Frantz, President & CEO, The Montgomery County Foundation, Inc. (484-532-7387).

We are forever grateful for the gift of Meredith’s warmth, kindness, and generous spirit, and for the positive change she created for people and communities throughout our region. Her loss and legacy will be felt in our community for years to come.
