The Homeless Assistance Fund, Inc. (HAFI) announces a convening strategy and new grants totaling $416,000 over two years to six nonprofit organizations working with young adults and families experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia. HAFI is a private foundation committed to removing the barriers that prevent families and individuals from moving into permanent housing and breaking out of homelessness.

HAFI will support the following nonprofit partners:

  • Action Wellness - to help support chronically ill young adults and adults and their families to transition from homelessness to permanent housing
  • Congreso de Latinos Unidos - to help provide furniture to Congreso’s Rapid Rehousing clients to support their successful transition to permanent housing.
  • Drueding Center - to assist single parent families to move from transitional to permanent housing.
  • Turning Points for Children - toward support for replication of Youth Village’s LifeSet program in Philadelphia, in particular providing support for youth transitioning out of foster care who are at risk of homelessness.
  • Valley Youth House- toward support for Pride, a housing program with supportive services for homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in Philadelphia.
  • Women Against Abuse - to support families made homeless by domestic violence to transition to safe and permanent housing as part of the Safe at Home program

HAFI will also convene Philadelphia funders interested in deepening our knowledge of the root causes of homelessness in Philadelphia and effective solutions. Our goal is to foster joint action to leverage philanthropic resources toward partnerships and permanent solutions to homelessness in our city.
